7-Day Family Kindness Challenge
Seven short practices at the kitchen table.
Notice. Choose. Act. Then give it a thumbs up.
Kindness is a learnable superpower already inside your family. This free challenge helps you release it together — one day at a time.
Start Day 15–15 minutes a day. Perfect for parents, grandparents, and kids ages 5–12.
What started at one kitchen table with grandparents Jeff & Amey and grandsons Jake & Adam is now a simple practice any family can use. Begin with one thank-you. Watch it spread.
Start with Thank You
Skill: Thank-You Ripple with Thank-You Theo
Practice (5–10 minutes at the table):
- Each person names one specific kind thing someone in the family did.
- Look at them and say: “Thank you. That mattered.”
- Give a thumbs up.
This is the easiest first step. A specific thank-you makes a quiet act visible and starts a K-Spark.
Listen All the Way
Skill: Listening with Listen Luna
Practice:
- One person talks about their day for 60–90 seconds.
- Everyone else listens fully — no interrupting, no fixing.
- When they finish, the listeners give a thumbs up.
- Switch so everyone gets a turn.
Line to practice: “I am really listening to what you are saying.”
Pause. Thumbs Up Instead.
Skill: Kindness Pause with Pause Pax
Practice:
- Notice when a sharp reply is about to come out.
- Pause for three seconds.
- Choose a kinder response (or just a thumbs up).
- Optional: Role-play one common home moment (chores, screens, rushing).
This interrupts the daily negativity that walks in the door.
Help Without Being Asked
Skill: Help Choice with Helper Hank
Practice:
- Spot one quiet need at home.
- Do it without being asked.
- Afterward, someone names it and gives a specific thank-you + thumbs up.
Line to try: “I’ve got a hand for that.”
Make It Right
Skill: Make It Right with Harmony Hope
Practice:
- If anything felt off this week, name it simply.
- Own a part of it.
- Take one kind next step.
- End with a group thumbs up.
Line: “I want to make this right.”
Catch a K-Spark
Practice:
- Everyone looks for one kind act (at home or out in the world).
- At the table, share it: “Caught a K-Spark!”
- Celebrate with thumbs ups and a smile.
Optional: Sing the short chorus of the Kindness Song together.
Family Kindness Meeting + Visible Symbol
Practice:
- Hold a short Family Kindness Meeting (appreciations first).
- If you have one, put the Kindness Home Rock in the center.
- End with a group thumbs up.
- Optional: Print or create a simple Kindness Home Certificate.
This is how a one-week challenge becomes a lasting habit.
