Brand in Development

Learn branding first. Then apply it to yourself.

Kids already live in a brand world. Most of those brands were built by someone else. Before we ask a child to grow a brand of their own, we teach what a brand is — then we try it on ourselves, with kindness as the skill.

I am a Brand in Development.

Our approach

We do not start by “branding kids.” We start by learning the idea of a brand, then we connect it to a person, then we practice. Same order at home, in a workshop, or in a 15-minute school intro.

1 · Learn branding

What a brand is. How it is created. The five attributes: packaging, promise, personality, values, story.

A brand is a feeling people get from how you show up — again and again.
2 · Connect it to a person

A product has a box and a promise. A person has a way of showing up and a way of treating people. Quality is character. Kindness is the value that keeps it human.

You already are a brand. The question is whose story you are wearing.
3 · Apply it to ourselves

Only then do kids draw it, name it, or write a starter line. Adults can take the full path on Brand Yourself with Kindness. Teens use Teen Superpower.

Tools from adults. Brand from the child.

Step 1 · Learn branding

This is the same foundation we use for teens and adults on Brand Yourself with Kindness. Family language here. Full adult toolkit there.

What is a brand?

A brand is the overall feeling, perception, and reputation people have about you. It is not a logo first. It is how people experience you and remember you.

How a brand is created

Brands are built through consistent actions, words, visuals, and experiences over time. Every interaction adds to the brand — or takes away from it.

Key attributes

Packaging — how you show up.
Promise — what people can expect.
Personality — your character and vibe.
Values — what you stand for.
Story — who you are becoming.

Step 2 · A person can be a brand

A cereal box has packaging and a promise. So does a person. The child’s “product” is their character — still unfinished. Quality is how they treat people. Characteristics are the traits they practice. Kindness is the skill that makes the brand true.

Attribute A product brand A person as a brand
Packaging Box, colors, logo Smile, energy, posture, how you walk in
Promise “High quality. Lasts a long time.” “People feel better after being with me.”
Personality Fun, bold, professional Warm, honest, still becoming
Values Words on a website Kindness lived in small acts
Story A marketing line Each kind act is a chapter
Quality How well the product works How you treat yourself and other people

Adults already wear other people’s logos. Kids do too — teams, games, apps, a nickname from one hard day. Learning the idea first makes “apply it to ourselves” feel honest, not like a marketing class.

Step 3 · Apply it to ourselves

Now the child tries the idea on. Same brand. Different tools by age. All three live on the workshop page. Schools use this same order in 15 minutes.

Draw it · JK–Grade 1

A mark, a picture, one kind act. An adult sits beside them. No sentence required.

Draw it →
Name it · Grades 2–4

Two words or a short line about the feeling they want to give. Then one proof act.

Name it →
Starter brand · Grades 5–8

One honest sentence they can own. When that sentence feels too small, they go to Teen Superpower.

Starter brand →
What this is

A growing personal story. Still becoming is the point — not a finished product.

What this is not

Not turning kids into influencers. Not a required pledge. Not an adult script they have to perform.

One-page printable

Learn, then apply. Print this before the workshop or the school intro.

One idea. Three stages.

The approach stays the same as people grow up. Learn the idea. Apply it to yourself. Kindness is the skill.

Why this is needed

Children are already wearing other people’s stories. If nobody teaches the language of a brand — and the kindness skill that should go with it — the loudest brand in the room writes it for them.

Labels arrive early

Quiet. Funny. New kid. Trouble. Smart. Those covers get treated like the whole book.

Comparison is built in

Feeds, lunch tables, and tryouts teach kids to measure themselves against a finished image.

Kindness is optional in that world

Unless someone treats kindness as a skill, the personal brand defaults to cool, loud, or invisible.

Learn first, then apply

A kitchen table or a 15-minute class can cover the basics before anyone is asked to name themselves.

Benefits

For the child

They get the idea before they get the assignment. Then they can say “I am still growing” without shame, and prove it with one kind act.

For parents & grandparents

A shared language that is not a lecture. Cover branding first. Then draw, talk, and practice.

For classrooms that want it

Same three steps in 15 minutes. Then optional free School of Kindness lessons. High school uses Teen Superpower.

Who this is for

Parents

Start with the basics at home. Then use the workshop with one child or the whole family.

Grandparents

You have time and story. Help a grandchild learn the idea, then practice one kind act together.

Older kids, on their own

Grades 5–8 can write a starter brand after they understand the five parts. Teens go to Teen Superpower.

Schools, if they want it

Optional. Learn branding, connect it to a person, then one short activity. No required pledge.
