Kindness Superpower at Home
Kindness is a learnable superpower we all have inside us.
Release it together at home — and watch it spread.
It Started at the Kitchen Table
Grandparents Jeff Brown and Amey Harding wanted to teach their grandsons — Jake and his younger brother Adam — a skill that would help them in school and in life.
What began as a simple practice at the kitchen table became HeroKindness, Kindness Monkey, the Kindness Song, and a cycle any family can use: Notice. Choose. Act. Then give it a thumbs up.
What is practiced at home naturally spreads to school, friends, and the community. Your table can be next.
A New Way to See What Happens at Home
Home is where the real opportunities are. It is where families connect with the superpower already inside them — and create real-life impact that moves outward.
Start with Thank You.
Benefits of Kindness in Your Home
Happiness & Mental Health
Kind acts and genuine thank-yous lift mood, reduce stress, and strengthen emotional well-being for everyone in the house.
Quality Time Together
Simple practices create meaningful moments of connection instead of just logistics and screens.
Counters Daily Negativity
A deliberate thumbs-up or kind response interrupts the sharp reply and the stress that walks in the door.
Kindness Starts at Home — and Spreads to School and Community
One home practicing kindness creates a ripple that reaches schools, neighborhoods, and beyond. The choices we make and learn at home shape how we treat people everywhere.
Inside the Home
More connection, fewer conflicts, stronger trust, and children who feel seen and valued.
At School
Kids who already know how to notice, pause, and choose a kinder response bring that skill into the classroom, playground, and friendships.
In the Community
Small acts practiced at home become easier outside — with neighbors, friends, local businesses, and in public spaces. Homes set the expectation for kindness around them.
Home → School → Community → Life
Home Touches Everyone
Family
Parents, kids, and everyone under the same roof practice together.
Grandparents
Intergenerational moments that pass the habit across generations. This began with grandparents.
Friends & Neighbors
The people closest to your home can be invited into the same practice.
Role Play Team HeroKindness
Take turns becoming a Team HeroKindness character and practice their kindness skill right at home. It’s a fun way for the whole family to build real skills together.
How to Play (10–15 minutes)
- Choose a character (or draw one at random).
- One family member plays that character and acts out a short home situation using their skill and line.
- Other family members respond as themselves or as another character.
- End the scene with a thumbs up and a smile.
- Switch roles and try a different character.
Example skills to try:
- Thank-You Theo — “Thank you. That mattered.” (Name the person and the act.)
- Listen Luna — “I am really listening to what you are saying.” (Look, listen, let them finish.)
- Helper Hank — “I’ve got a hand for that.” (Notice a chance to help and choose to help.)
- Pause Pax — “Pause. Thumbs up instead.” (Stop, relax, then choose the kinder response.)
- Harmony Hope — “I want to make this right.” (Name the hurt, own a part, take the next kind step.)
