JK – Grade 1 (Ages 4–7)
Learning Objectives
- Notice when they have a big feeling
- Practice a kind action to help themselves or a friend
- Use a thumbs-up as a reset signal
1. Introduction & Hook (4–5 min)
Teacher Script: “Sometimes we have big feelings — mad, sad, worried, or frustrated. That is normal. Today we learn the Resilience Superpower. When we notice a big feeling, we can do something kind for ourselves or someone else, then give a thumbs-up. Kindness helps our feelings settle.”
2. Teach the Reset (3–4 min)
Notice the big feeling → Choose a kind act (take a breath, get a drink, help a friend, say something kind to yourself) → Thumbs Up + Smile.
3. Main Activity (7–9 min)
Practice noticing a big feeling and choosing a kind action. Students can draw on the printable worksheet or on blank paper: “My Kindness Reset.”
4. Closing (3 min)
“This week, when you have a big feeling, try your Resilience Superpower. Notice… choose kind… thumbs-up! Group thumbs-up for calm and kindness!”
Grades 2 – 4 (Ages 7–10)
Learning Objectives
- Name common stress or big emotions
- Practice the three-step Kindness Reset
- Commit to using it this week
1. Introduction & Hook (4 min)
Teacher Script: “Everyone feels stressed, frustrated, nervous, or angry sometimes. Today we learn the Resilience Superpower: Notice the feeling → Choose a kind act (to yourself or someone else) → Thumbs Up + Smile. Kindness helps us bounce back.”
2. Teach the Reset (3–4 min)
Write the three steps. Give examples of kind acts to self and to others.
3. Main Activity (8–10 min)
Partner practice with simple scenarios. Students complete the printable Kindness Reset worksheet with one personal reset they can use.
4. Closing (3 min)
“This week, when you notice a big feeling or stress, use your Resilience Superpower. Group thumbs-up for resilience!”
Grades 5 – 8 (Ages 10–14)
Learning Objectives
- Identify personal stress triggers and big emotions
- Apply the Kindness Reset under realistic pressure
- Build a short personal resilience plan
1. Introduction & Hook (3–4 min)
Teacher Script: “Middle school brings many sources of stress. Big emotions are normal. Today we practice the Resilience Superpower so kindness becomes a practical tool you can use when things feel hard.”
2. Teach / Review (3–4 min)
Notice → Choose kind act (self or other) → Thumbs Up + Smile. Discuss realistic examples for this age.
3. Main Activity (10–12 min)
Silent reflection → pair share. Students complete the printable worksheet with a personal Kindness Reset plan they can actually use.
4. Closing (3 min)
“Resilience grows every time you use the Kindness Reset. This week, try it at least once. Thumbs-up for building resilience through kindness.”
High School (Grades 9–12)
Learning Objectives
- Recognize how stress and big emotions show up in high school
- Use the Kindness Reset as a practical regulation tool
- Develop a personal resilience script or habit
1. Introduction & Hook (3–4 min)
Teacher Script: “High school often involves high pressure and digital overload. Today we treat kindness — especially self-kindness and small outward acts — as a practical resilience tool.”
2. Frame the Approach (3–4 min)
Notice the stress or emotion → Choose a kind act → Reset with acknowledgment. Briefly note how small kind acts affect mood and stress.
3. Main Activity (10–12 min)
Students complete the printable worksheet, writing a realistic Kindness Reset script for common high-school stressors. Optional discussion on building sustainable habits.
4. Closing (3 min)
“Resilience is not about never feeling stressed. It is about having tools that help you move through it. Kindness is one of the most accessible tools you have. Thumbs-up for resilience.”
