Build Your Brand in Development
Learn branding first. Then apply it to yourself.
One workshop for kids and families. Cover what a brand is, how a person can be one, then draw it, name it, or write a starter line.
I am a Brand in Development.
Start with branding JK–1 · Draw it Grades 2–4 · Name it Grades 5–8 · Starter brand
Our approach
Do not start by asking a child to invent a brand. Start by learning the idea. Then connect it to a person. Then apply it. Same order at the kitchen table or in class. The full explanation lives on Brand in Development. Adults can go deeper on Brand Yourself with Kindness.
A brand is the feeling people get from how you show up — again and again. Not a logo first. Built by repeated actions, words, and experiences.
A product has a box and a promise. A person has a way of showing up and a way of treating people. Quality is character. Kindness is the value.
JK–1 draw a mark. Grades 2–4 name a feeling. Grades 5–8 write one starter sentence. One kind act as proof.
Say this before any track
Two minutes. Then pick Draw it, Name it, or Starter brand.
“You already know brands. A brand is not just a logo. It is the feeling people get from how something shows up — again and again.”
“Brands grow from what happens over and over: actions, words, and how people are treated.”
“A cereal box has packaging and a promise. You do too. Packaging is how you show up. Promise is how people feel around you. You are a Brand in Development — still becoming.”
| Part | A product | A person |
|---|---|---|
| Packaging | Box and logo | How you show up |
| Promise | What you can expect | How people feel around you |
| Personality | Fun, bold, serious | Your character |
| Values | Words on a box | Kindness you practice |
| Story | An ad | Who you are becoming |
This page is for kids applying the idea
Everyone is still becoming. Teens write a full statement on Teen Superpower after they learn branding. Adults live a kindness brand on their own page.
Brand in Development
I am a Brand in Development.
Three pages. Three jobs.
Learn branding. See how a person can be a brand. Why this matters for families.
Concept page →Short brand basics, then three apply tracks. Kitchen table or class period.
Same three steps in 15 minutes. Teacher overview, how-to, printable worksheet that goes home.
School lesson →Then pick a track
Same brand. Different tools. High school uses Teen Superpower, not this page.
After the two-minute intro: a mark, a picture, one kind act. No sentence required.
Go to Draw it →After the intro: two words or a short line about the feeling they want to give. Then one proof act.
Go to Name it →After the five parts: one honest sentence they can own. When it feels too small, go to Teen Superpower Period 1.
Go to Starter brand →Steps every age uses
Learn first. Then the Kindness Cycle: Notice → Choose → Act.
Use the printed worksheet if you want one page in hand.
Learn
Brand = feeling. Person can be a brand.
Notice
How do I show up now?
Choose
What feeling do I want to give?
Name it
A mark, 2 words, or one sentence.
Prove it
One kind act this week.
Keep it
Share once — or keep it private. Page goes home.
Do not grade it. Quiet still counts. Tools from adults. Brand from the child.
JK–Grade 1 · Draw it
Time: 10–15 minutes after the two-minute intro. Words are optional. The picture is the brand.
First the branding lines above. Then: “You are a Brand in Development. That means you are still growing — like a plant.”
Show the badge. Read the line once. Kids do not have to say it back.
On the worksheet: draw a kind face, a thumbs up, or a tiny plant in My mark.
Optional one word — kind, helper, smile, friend.
The page goes to a grown-up. Kindness Monkey can be the helper who is also still growing. Sharing is optional.
Grades 2–4 · Name it
Time: 15–20 minutes after the intro. One picture + one short line on the worksheet.
First the branding lines. Then: “People already have a first picture of you. That picture is a start. It is not the whole you.”
Locked line: I am a Brand in Development.
Finish box 3: I am a ______ who…
Box 2: I want people to feel ______.
Draw a small mark.
Box 5 is for home. A parent or grandparent adds one kind thing they notice. That is how the brand keeps developing after school.
Grades 5–8 · Write a starter brand
Time: 15–25 minutes. Use the five-part table. Older kids can do this on their own. High school uses the teen workshop.
A brand is the feeling people get from how you show up. Packaging, promise, personality, values, story. Kindness makes that feeling consistent.
You write the script. Adults only bring the tools.
Private prompt: “How do I want people to feel when I show up?”
Fill the worksheet, then add if they want:
I stand for…
People feel… because…
This week I will prove it by…
That is the hand-off. Do not invent a fourth brand.
Go to Teen Superpower Period 1. They learn branding first, see a person as a brand, then write the full line. Do not skip to “write a statement.”
Classroom skill next? Core Issues.
Starter lines kids can copy
