Step-by-Step Instructions

1. 1. Wash the rock – Clean with soap and water. Let it dry completely.
2. 2. Prime (optional) – Paint a light base coat so colors show better.
3. 3. Sketch your design – Lightly draw with pencil. Use our templates or freehand.
4. 4. Paint the big areas first – Use larger brushes for backgrounds and main shapes.
5. 5. Add details & words – Use small brushes or paint pens for messages and the thumbs-up.
6. 6. Let it dry fully – Wait several hours or overnight.
7. 7. Seal the rock – This protects it for outdoor use (see sealing tips below).

Sealing Techniques for Longevity

Sealing is the most important step if your Kindness Rock will be left outside or gifted.

• Best option: Outdoor Mod Podge or acrylic sealer spray (2–3 thin coats)
• Brush-on or spray both work well
• Let each coat dry completely before the next
• Seal both the front and the back of the rock
• For extra protection, apply a final clear spray after the last coat is dry

Proper sealing helps the paint last months or even years outdoors.
